"Living the Blessed Life (Pt. 2)"
TEXT: Deut. 28; Acts 2:39; 1 Cor. 7:14; Rev. 22:9; Acts 10:1-2
TRUTHS:
1. God establishes and upholds the covenants He makes with humanity, even when human faithfulness falters. The fulfillment of covenantal promises is dependent upon the mercies and character of God, not our perfect moral performance.
2. The fear of death has been removed for those who have trusted in Christ. The proper response to the gospel of Jesus Christ powerfully transforms our lives and sets us free to love.
3. The next generation(s) must observe mature believers hearing God’s voice and rejoicing over answered prayers.
4. When God establishes a covenant with a people, He makes it to them and their children. God desires that humanity brings forth families and expects His children to produce godly offspring.
5. Having the Word of God in our heart is the basis for all of God’s work in our lives. God’s Word must be hidden away in our souls in order for us to bear fruit and discern how the Spirit of God is seeking to guide our lives.
6. God’s children should be primarily focused on people coming to Christ. As events associated with the end of the age seemingly unfold, believers will be tempted to place their focus on the wrong thing. We can become fixated on the timing of biblical promises and subtly veer off from a passionate commitment to spread and preach the gospel.
7. You don’t chase the blessed life; the blessed life chases you. We chase the voice of the Lord!
TALK TO EACH OTHER:
1. Why is it important to understand God's faithfulness as it relates to the covenants He has made with humanity?
2. What is the Lord trying to accomplish in removing the fear of death from His children? What is He wanting that removal of fear to produce?
3. How can we reveal to the next generation that God speaks, and that you can hear His voice? Why is it so important for this truth and reality to be talked about, passed on, and
modeled before them?
4. What is the danger in becoming overly focused on figuring out the timing of end-time events? Wouldn't that be a wise use of our time?
5. What does it mean to chase the voice of the Lord?
TALK TO GOD:
Pray into the following areas:
To 'chase' the voice of the Lord
To be focused on people coming to Christ (both personally and corporately)
Thankful for God's faithfulness
Rejoicing that the fear of death has been removed and we have been set free to love
